Students in the 5th grade have the opportunity to attend Science Camp in May 2025. This experience consists of 3 nights and 4 days at Exploring New Horizons Outdoor School at Sempervirens.
The 5th Grade Science Camp program greatly enhances the educational experience of each 5th-grade class. It is part of the 5th Grade Curriculum and will be a cherished experience for every child. Students will explore the Oak and Redwood Forest as well as ocean tide pools during this hands-on, experiential approach to science education. In addition to academic learning, the 4-day/3-night program provides a unique opportunity for students to develop self-esteem, self-sufficiency, and social responsibility. They will work as part of a team and build lasting friendships.
The fair share amount of $467/student covers lodging, food, transportation to the tide pools, counselors and “tour guides”, also known as naturalists, and a lifetime of memories. PPIE is paying for the buses to and from Science Camp, saving each student $50! Your fair share amount of $467 needs to be paid in full by September 15, 2024.
If there is a financial hardship that prevents your fair share from being paid please contact our PFC treasurer at treasurer@lydiksenpfc.org for help.
Science Camp is a great program for every 5th grader to experience. However, every year the program is in jeopardy of being terminated due to a shortfall of funds. Unfortunately, if we do not collect enough money for every 5th grader wanting to attend, the trip will be canceled and the money that parents have paid will be refunded to them.
